A FAMILY STORY SEASONED WITH QUALITY

Our story starts long before TEX Butchery opened its doors. It begins in Calvinia, a small town in the Northern Cape, where our father worked the land as a proud farmer. Life on the farm taught him that great meat starts long before it reaches the butcher’s block — it begins with care for the animals, respect for the land, and a commitment to doing things the right way, every time.

When our father later moved to Johannesburg, he carried those values with him and passed them on to us. Inspired by his example and driven by a passion for quality meat, my brother, sister, and I founded TEX Butchery in 2018. We began with just three staff members and a simple goal: to bring top-quality meat and friendly service to our community.

Today, we’ve grown almost tenfold, with a dedicated team of 28. We proudly supply not only our loyal customers but also some of the best-known restaurants in the area — building our reputation on one thing: uncompromising quality.

As a family-owned business, our vision is to serve every customer with a smile and products they can trust. Looking ahead, we’re working towards raising our own cattle, pigs, and game to ensure even greater quality and traceability

At TEX Butchery, it’s not just about meat — it’s about flavour, tradition, and togetherness. And because every great meal deserves great flavour, we’ve developed our own spice and sauce range, including our famous BBQ (Barbi-que) and Ken Spice blends. It’s all part of bringing the unique taste of TEX to your table — whether it’s a family dinner or a Saturday braai.

Our father gave us the opportunity to build on his legacy, and with the incredible support of our customers, we now have the privilege of expanding further — including the exciting launch of our new shop and pop-up stores.
